Elliott Champ O'Donnell sets sights on the Ras
AFTER A sensational win in last Sunday's Shay Elliott Race, Bray rider Mick O'Donnell must now have his sights set on next week's FBD Milk Ras.
The Elliott race now attracts all the best riders from all over the country as this race is ideal preparation for the nine-day Ras which starts next Saturday.
Once again the deciding factor of the race was the Glenmalure Mountain which saw former Ras winner Tommy Evans take the King of the Mountains Prize. But not far behind in a 12-man breakaway group was Mick O'Donnell.
On the road from Laragh to Roundwood, Mick went away from this small group with two others but then he went clear on his own and was hitting speeds of over 55 miles per hour coming down the hill into Kilmac.
This gave Mick a lead of 20 seconds which he held onto until the finish back in Bray. This victory also gave Mick the yellow jersey in the season long Classic League.
The results of last Thurs day's club race were: 1st T. Ahern, 2nd A. O’Carroll, 3rd Miss J. O'Connor, 4th D. Kinch, 5th K. Bannon, 6th D. Dodd.
The club would like to send its thanks to all the club members who helped in running the Elliott Race, which was a huge success.
